FanGirlFurious

Between my binging of Therapuss & the events involving my sports teams the past two weeks, I am adopting a new segment for the blog called, FanGirlFurious. A blog having segments? Revolutionary. Again. I chose a blog for a reason but Riri really wants a podcast. Maybe. If y’all beg enough.

I try to come on here (meaning opening my blog drafts) with a more positive attitude about my teams because really, at my core, I’m delusional in thinking everything is going to be okay. Then, I will tune into a game or a race and be tested in being able to check my rage & really putting my Zoloft to the test. Speaking of, just now remembering I didn’t take that today. Oops. Anyway.

Within the last 2 weeks my teams have been making me want to throw my television off the top of the Empire State Building & I needed an outlet for this. So, in my blog brainstorming I figured, why not?

Let’s dive in.

Alabama Football

Listen, I know we are not in the Saban era anymore. I understand. I’ve come to terms with that. BUT. Whatever Kalen is doing down in Tuscaloosa is not it. How do you let the game Florida State happen. It was just embarrassing. I am not seeing the vision for what you are trying to build right now. Maybe I am being quick with the judgements but the Alabama standard used to mean something & now I don’t think anyone knows what that means. So, figure it out & quick or you’ll become a permanent resident in this type of blog.

Week 2 of College Football

I am not a fan. I don’t understand how the powers that be have like 2 meaningful & interesting games on in Week 2. If you’re going to let all of these big name programs schedule these smaller schools to beat them up & hang 70 on them, let them do it in like a scrimmage before the season starts. Now, everyone shut up. I understand that these small schools are getting paid and that there is a financial benefit but when we are in week 2 & I consider Iowa v Iowa State the best game of the day? Major issue.

McLaren Formula One

In this safe space that is this blog, this team is the reason I felt compelled to write this today. I am sick of these dumb papaya rules. I don’t understand how we are now entering into the late stages of this season & they haven’t managed to figure out how to conduct a single race weekend in a way that is fair to both drivers while still allowing them to do what they are being paid millions of dollars to do which is RACE.

Last season, we had a major hiccup in the Hungarian Grand Prix & it was probably the ugliest race I have witnessed from a fan stand point. Lando played the team game and swapped positions to allow Oscar to win the race. Today, while they weren’t competing for a win, since they are the leaders in the Drivers Championship, every point matters.

The team gets on the radio and tells Lando they will pit Oscar first & that Lando will still be leading once they pit him second. They pit Oscar. Lando comes in & they massacre the pitstop & he comes out behind Oscar. So, upon asking Oscar to switch positions he says the team said slow pits are apart of racing and that its fair play but sure he will swap.

I actually can not stand anyone from this team that sits on the pit wall. How can you week in and week out not manage to have a solid strategy that doesn’t allow for moments like this. You are opening up your drivers so mass amounts of hate because at the end of the day, they are the ones that stand in front of the press & have answer for this. You have to be better. If you want them race fairly then don’t interject during situations like this or on the team radio. I don’t want to hear any discussion about one or the other unless it was crucial for constructors. But it’s not. I am at a loss & I can’t defend the behavior of the decision makers of this team every week. You need to be apologizing publicly & in a very humiliating fashion to your drivers. Act like you have been here before. Figure it out.

Misc Rant

I am sick of how these streaming services are putting out shows. I miss the weekly releases for shows. I love Prime for how they are doing The Summer I Turned Pretty. It allows for consistent buzz around the show each week.

Netflix releases things all at once or, now, in two parts and it made me so beyond annoyed. This is making it so easy to watch the show, discuss it for 2 days, & then never think about again until in 3 years when you decide you want to put out another season.

Release shows weekly. Make more episodes. That also makes me so mad. 3 years for 10 mid episodes? Bye.

Let me know what you’re FanGirlFurious about this week. Whether it is TV shows or sports or related topics. I would love to know. Sometimes you just need to rant.

Ily a milli.

Talk soon.
