I’m in Love: September

Upon reflection, last month was quite chaotic for me in every sense of the word. I transitioned out of my job and into a new one, I went to visit family out of state, I dog sat for 2 weeks, & all while trying to stay present with my family & friends

Sometimes it doesn’t hit me how crazy a month it was until I sit down to write this blog. Lucky for me, I am writing this one a bit more removed than I normally am.

In full transparency, September was a tougher one for me mentally since moving home & I was kind of struggling to find things that I loved to even make this blog but thank goodness I love taking so many pictures of my everyday. My camera roll really came in clutch in ghostwriting this blog.

I find in these times when I am feeling like I should set every aspect of my life on fire and hide away, I find some of the most comfort in media of all forms. Whether it be television, movies, books, or music. This month was no different.

Here is everything that I absolutely loved in September.

Food & Drink

  • Cheez Itz

  • Cream Soda Olipop

I am not a big lunch person, never really have been. Instead, I tend to just have a few small things but now that I am back in classrooms I try to have snacks on me that are kind of allergy safe. Enter into the chat: Cheez Itz. They are one of the major food brands that also has a gluten free option which is what I have been buying frequently. But, this past week I really wanted the extra toasted, which was obviously amazing. Cheez Itz have been a staple for me at lunch time & I adore them so much.

Cream Soda Olipop - you have my heart forever. I am a Cream Soda stan. I love it DOWN! Probably one of the most underrated pop flavors of all time. Most major companies don't since it isn’t super mainstream but! My queens over at Olipop make a Cream Soda flavor and it has made me so happy. I think if you were to look in my fridge right now there are probably 4 cans in there right now. Delicious!

Television & Movies

  • Dancing with the Stars

  • NFL

  • The Love Hypothesis

  • SNL

  • Wedding Season

  • F1

I love appointment television. Not sure if I have been clear enough about that. September brought back so many of my favorites. First, Dancing with the Stars. So, FREAKING GOOD THIS CAST!!! I have my favorites and genuinely could see them winning. I will say after this last weeks episode I may have to boycott because the purpose of the show is to dance and when a celebrity is getting a less than 50% score with judges feedback that includes something along the lines of, “this doesn’t resemble this style of dance at all.” and he stays?! Well. That is when you start to lose me because your show itself is losing integrity. If he stays this week & one of these other celebrities stays, then really shut down the show.

SNL is also back which makes my heart so happy. I love this show & the newer cast is KILLING it! I love a good laugh and this show delivers that for me. Y’all need to be tuning into this show more.

This month was big for romance readers because The Love Hypothesis released on Prime & as someone who is hypercritical of books turning into movies, I actually enjoyed this adaptation so much. I am so happy with how it turned out & thank goodness for that! While we are in the romcom realm, this month I also watched the Wedding Season on Netflix. It was such a fantastic balance of cutie, longing, laughter, and actually solid writing. I also would recommend this one as well.

YALL. We are BOOKED AND BUSY THIS FALL! September brought us 3 Grand Prixs in 4 weeks. We really were spoiled. It’s actually just ridiculous how much joy this sport brings me. I say that now but that's just because my team had a solid race today, if it was the other way around I probably would be saying I’d never watch another race again.

Okay, NFL is officially back. Which means my Raiders fandom is in full effect. For those who missed it or are new here, ever since my father gave me his blessing to no longer be a Browns fan, I have been shopping around the NFL for a new home for my NFL fandom. The first year it was the Texans, last year was the Jets, & this year it is the Las Vegas Raiders. My followers on Instagram said my team needs to be picked from the many that were getting new head coaches. I put them all on a wheel & the last team standing was the Raiders. In September they went a beautiful 3-0. They are a fun watch this season compared to seasons past from what I can tell. There is a little spunk with this team, idk maybe it’s just me under the spell of a new team so early in the year.

Music

  • ABBA

  • maggots for brains by Olivia Rodrigo

  • Stop the Wedding! by Ashe

For those in my life, you know how deeply I love ABBA. If my life had a soundtrack about ½ of the songs on it would be ABBA. They are the music group of my lifetime & I spent a lot of time in September listening to them. The songs on repeat for me were: Honey, Honey, Voulez-Vous, & Super Trouper.

Miss Olivia Rodrigo’s new album is the gift that keeps on giving for me. This month I was addicted to her song maggots for brains. Between the beat and having one of the most satisfying vocal pieces of the entire album, I love it so much. Around the 3:20 mark she does a layered part with the word “brain” & it scratches an itch for me. I think I listened to it at least once a day if not more in September. It is just a fun song & in an album that quickly turns into an insane emotional rollercoaster, I appreciate this song for the lightness it brings compared to others on the album.

Alright. MISS ASHE DID NOT COME TO PLAY YALL. Stop the Wedding is a song I told everyone in my life to listen to. I can’t not dance to it when it comes on. It is beyond good. It’s superb. I actually am so excited for this album if it brings this kind of energy.

Misc.

  • Grocery shopping

  • Depop

  • Imessage stickers

There are very few things that I can do in public that bring me a sense of calm. Grocery Shopping is one of them. I have been finding so much joy in going to the grocery store. I put my headphones in, grab my list, and walk around the store just perusing. My favorite times to go are early in the morning on the weekends or the middle of the day in the week of my off days. Really anytime its not crowded, its a beautiful experience.

There is no app on my phone I was more locked in on this month than Depop. Actually, they should sponsor me. Since I pick a new NFL team every season, I am not wanting to spend crazy amounts of money on team new merch. Thus, Depop was my go to. I was able to find so many cute vintage Raiders sweatshirts for so cheap & honestly the quality is still there. I should probably delete the app its so addicting.

Abby & David have me addicting to stickers in Imessage that I am so hyperaware of every meme that comes across my desk that could become a good sticker. I think Abby has the best collection of anyone I know but having them really just makes me laugh all of the time. Everyone get reaction stickers added to your imessage immediately. Thank me and then Abby and David later.
