Draft Day
Football season is one of the best times of year. Really, no better time of year. Waking up on a Saturday & Sunday in the Fall when it’s sunny but the air is crisp, slight breeze, low 60’s? My dream date. Cute.
One of the key benchmark dates of the year for me is draft day. Fantasy Football Draft Day. The far superior & less historically terrible draft day.
I should preface all of this with saying, yes, Fantasy is fun & literally has 0 implications on day to day life but I am oddly competitive. I try not to let small things like this bother me but losing in fantasy is actually the most annoying thing to lose. Probably because you have 0 control over any of things that affect the score & outcomes. Maybe, if I had a therapist, this is something we would talk about but instead, I have this very public & very online blog. Amazing alternative!
Anyway, the commissioner of our league decided to do the online duck race to determine our draft order. Somehow, some.how. I came in dead last. 12 out of 12. Now, I know I am actually one of the unluckiest humans. I wasn’t expecting to be an early pick BUT DEAD LAST?!?!? Immediately started brewing the most insane conspiracy about how someone was plotting my downfall. There were some comments about it in the fantasy groupchat & I am proud of myself that I didn’t lash out. I thought about it. But didn’t. That’s on personal growth!
So, this leads into the draft where my only real plan was to just queue up a bunch of people that I wanted & adjust accordingly as people draft them away from me & crush my hopes and dreams of not coming in dead last in this league. Honestly, zero thoughts going into this draft. My main goal for this fantasy season is to not come in dead last, I wanted to put some effort in.
Picture this: me sitting in my studio apartment at my desk in complete silence talking to myself for an hour, trying not to crash out. Whether or not I was successful is up for debate. But, guys, I think based on how everything shaked out, I will be okay. Again, not the best but definitely not the worst. Hopefully.

Also, everyone, please submit names for my team because I have 0 ideas right now & actually tried to wipe the memory of this draft from my brain. And, if you’re one of the players on my team - let’s lock in please.
