I’m in Love!: February
The shortest month of the year brought about a lot of new energies & plans for changes on the horizon. All of it will be so exciting and it is very needed. I kind of felt like I was waking up from a long night of sleep? Which is probably why the want for Spring has been so strong. That & if I walk outside one more time to see snow falling I will lose it.
February has come & gone with it I hope it also takes the winter weather because I need Spring! Until then, let's reflect on the things that I loved in the month that loves loving things!
Beauty
Laneige Cinnamon Sugar Tinted Lip Serum
There are very few beauty products I would use my very small platform to recommend to the people but this is an exception I am willing to make. I bought this down in Florida on whim because I lost my Summer Fridays & needed a new lip gloss. This past month I officially ran out & it was heartbreaking. This had a very nice tint to it & I am obsessed with the applicator. As a bonus - all the options smell so good. 10/10 recommend will be purchasing again.
Food
Pistachio Gelato
Typically every Saturday I spend 95% of my day sitting at the Met. It is my safe space. My 3rd location. A frequent flyer if you will. At one of the few places to eat in the museum they have a gelato cart & it is very problematic for me because it is so good. My go to order is the combo of strawberry & pistachio. There is something about this combo that hits the vein of sweet & salty energy. As a through line from last months loves: pistachio is really just having a big moment for me right now & I am thriving.
Entertainment
The Pitt
High Potential
Forever Your Girl by Paula Abdul
I finally gave in last month & started the Pitt. I am not one who has ever really been into medical shows I am more of a crime/detective show girlie. I had a coworker recommend this to me & I finally gave in on the long weekend this month. I am officially caught up as well as completely addicted. It got to the point where I even turned to watch some episodes of ER but then had to stop because I could feel high levels of obsessed happening over Dr. John Carter. Anyway. If anyone has thoughts on the Pitt please speak with me about them. I am a Dr. Jack Abbott stan. My king for real.
Again, I am a crime/detective show girl to my core. This month due to the weather has allowed me to finally watch High Potential. I binged the first season & am officially caught up to date on this show as well. It is a show about a maid turned consultant with the LAPD who has a high IQ which helps her solve the cases. It could be considered a more modernized cousin of the show Psych. Another show I love. But it has a good mix of comedy & drama that you expect in these types of shows but it also somehow feels very fresh & new.
& I would be lying if I made this list about things I am obsessed with if I didn't include this song. Everyone say thank you to Emily Henry, my favorite romance author, for finally giving us the People We Meet on Vacation movie. Starring my king & queen Emily Bader & Tom Blyth. It also gave us a little dance sequence that stole my heart set to this song. I can not emphasize how this song is just a shot of serotonin to me. There is something laced in this song that I love so much & it is my official song of the summer. Everyone in my life - this is your notice to not let me on aux or this is playing.
Misc.
Dinner by Yourself
Museum Tours
Snail Mail
Going out to dinner by myself is actually one of my most favorite things to do & this past month I did it twice. Once on Valentines day & the other time was last night. I know for a lot of people it probably seems weird or uncomfortable but it really can be so fun. My recommendation to everyone is to try once a month to take yourself out for a meal or even a dessert. Eat it at the restaurant. Indulge! My tips for doing this are:
1. Pick a restaurant you are familiar with
This will help ease a bit of the stress because you will understand your surroundings & now what to expect with your service & food.
2. Be an early bird!
Being a solo diner it can be easy to get a spot during peak crowds but I often find that going earlier than the peak times is best. Normally it's not big crowds & great seating options.
As I said before, I love the Met. This month I finally decided to take one of their many free tours they offer throughout the day. Typically offered every 30 minutes or so. It was so fun to hear our volunteer speak on some of the featured works in each of the collections. I am in the Met once a week & she showed some works that I am not all that familiar with. It was so amazing to learn new things about things I look at all of the time. So, next time you go to a museum, check to see if they have any tours, I highly recommend.
Finally! Snail mail! I love sending & receiving mail. It is one of those small joys in life. For about 3 years, I have made it a habit to carry stamps around in my wallet, in case I ever go somewhere & want to send a card or postcard. This came in handy this past month when I was at the Met & decided to send post cards to some people. It is something so fun & easy to do as a quick 'I was thinking of you!' And, again, who doesn't love getting a fun piece of mail.
