Abu Dhabi GP & 2025 Season Recap
For long time Formula One fans, hearing that the World Drivers Championship was going to be decided in Abu Dhabi probably brought on war flashbacks to 2021. As I begin the write this, we are only on lap 32 of 58 & there is still too much race left for me to feel okay.
I was thinking about what I wanted to say about the season itself & I figured we should take a trip down memory lane to my predictions I made before the season even started. This will be quite triggering and embarrassing to hear what my thoughts were but at the same time, I could have absolutely nailed it & someone should give me a podcast to discuss these things.
2025 Predictions vs Reality
Rookie on podium
I will give this to Kimi due to just the potential I think the Merc car has this season but watch me so extremely and incredibly wrong which I wouldn’t be completely shocked at
So Kimi did actually end up on podium in Canada & Brazil, my young king. There was also some podium finishes for Sprints in there too I am not mistaken. He was the rookie with the most podium finishes but he wasn’t the only one. Isack Hadjar managed to get that VCARB into a 3rd place finish in the Netherlands which brought me so much joy. I actually can not wait to see the Max & Isack dynamic next year at Red Bull.
Aston Martin jump scare (good way)
Adrian probably has their engineers working like they are in the freaking marines. He’s going to have them in a decent paced car come upgrades time. I feel it in my bones.
Jump scare (bad way). Aston Martin finished 7th in constructors but there were glimpses of decent car development. With Adrian stepping into the Team Principal position next season, I have a feeling we may actually get some strides into competitive point positions.
Constructors championship: Ferrari
I think that the hype train is on McLaren so heavy and you want to talk about moving in silence? Ferrari. The team. Not the fans, they are actually the loudest group of fans on the internet sometimes. Not all. But a vast majority.
Oh, hey Kat? Shut up. The SF-25 actually was a red tractor. How they even managed to get decent points or even the few podiums they got this season makes no sense to me. This actually makes me concerned for Charles & Lewis. They need to sage the car development space in Maranello. They will have to answer for their crimes in front of the ICC for wasting prime Charles Leclerc. Unbelievable. I will never go against my Papaya King Andrea Stella. I was trying to be different. Note to reader: sometimes it is okay to be a sheep.
Best of the rest team: Williams
I have been singing their praises the last few weeks and I just really am throwing some of my support behind them this season.
& guess what. I was right. A lot of my casuals were probably wondering what best of the rest means. It means the best 5th place team because normally we get the same teams out of the modern big 4: McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes, & Red Bull. Where you end up in the line up for Constructors could be the difference of millions of dollars for car development & with new regulations for next year, this is crucial. Williams secured the 5th place position for the 2025 season. I trust James Vowles with my life considering how competitive he was able to make this team. Everyone say thank you to our hero, Thea. Really if you know you know.
Drivers championship: I seriously have no idea.
I have a few that I think could really be making a play this season but I think after Australia I will have a better idea. I think there are so many people that could reasonably be in the fight for the title but I normally make my decision after the first race. The race mentality tells me a lot. So, my favorites right now, please do not let me down.
In my heart of hearts I knew the exact 3 people who are currently battling it out on track would be the main contenders after watching the Australian Grand Prix. Did I think it would be decided at the last race of the season? Absolutely not. Do I think the F1 gods are laughing about this entire situation? 100%. I need my driver to stay within the top 3. That’s all I need.

I know the reality of the season being over has yet to sink in but for right now let us celebrate.
